In the small menu bar underneath the main menu bar, select Insert. - Holding the Option key down, drag the Text Box icon to the new toolbar. Click OK to exit the dialog. This built-in app is rarely the first choice for Mac users who want to add text to photos, but completing this task with Preview App is remarkably easy. Open the app and import the photo you want to edit, then make sure to click on the 'Show Edit Toolbar' icon and select the 'Text Tool' feature.

- In the chart, click where you want to start a corner of the text box, and then drag until the text box is the size that you want.
- In the text box, type the text that you want.
- When you finish typing, press ESC to cancel editing mode, or click anywhere outside of the text box.
